Promoting Prostate health is an important for men over the age of 40. As men age, it is important to promote the health of the prostate and to maintain a normal size. Helping to maintain normal prostate size allows you more freedom to do the things you want to do everyday because it supports normal urinary flow.

Men, if you suffer from these Symptoms:Difficulties in urination, including a weak or intermittent stream, unusual frequency (especially at night), straining, dribbling, or inability to empty the bladder.

A burning sensation when urinating. Sudden fever, chills.

Pain in the lower back and in the area just behind the scrotum.

Blood in the urine.

Pain in the pelvis and genital area.

Pain upon ejaculation, blood in the semen, or sexual dysfunction.

ProOure is a unique complex of effective herbs, amino acids and nutrients to help maintain a healthy prostate and steady urine flow for men.

An extract of the berries of the saw palmetto(Serenoa repens), a scrubby tree of the American Southeast, is said to shrink an enlarged prostate and relieve symptoms.

Prostate enlargement may respond to nutritional therapies. Zinc, which is involved in many aspects of hormonal metabolism, is thought to promote prostate health and reduce inflammation; rich sources of zinc are oysters, wheat bran, whole oatmeal, pumpkinseeds, and sunflower seeds. Vitamins C and E may promote prostate health. The amino acids glycine, alanine, and glutamic acid are said to alleviate symptoms. One such herb is saw palmetto, which has been shown to be effective in treating BPH.

Saw palmetto blocks the formation of dihidrotestosterone and interferes with its ability to bind to its receptor sites on the membrane of the prostate cells and their nuclei. Increased binding of DHT to the receptor sites is one of the main reasons for prostate enlargement. An increase in estradiol is another. Saw palmetto actually inhibits all the metabolites of testosterone, not only DHT, and the beta-sitosterol it contains also inhibits the binding of estradiol to receptor sites on muscle cells in the prostate gland.

Saw Palmetto The liposterolic (fat-soluble) extract of saw palmetto provides concentrated amounts of free fatty acids and sterols. One study with a saw palmetto extract suggests that it reduces the amount of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) (an active form of testosterone) binding in the part of the prostate surrounding the urethra (the tube carrying urine from the bladder). Test tube studies also suggest that saw palmetto weakly inhibits the action of 5-alpha-reductase, the enzyme responsible for converting testosterone to DHT. In test tubes, saw palmetto also inhibits the actions of growth factors and inflammatory substances that may contribute to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Contrary to some opinions, saw palmetto does not have an estrogen-like effect in men's bodies.

Selenium Selenium activates an antioxidant enzyme called glutathione peroxidase, which may help protect the body from cancer. Yeast-derived forms of selenium have induced "apoptosis" (programmed cell death) in cancer cells in test tubes and in animals. A double-blind trial that included over 1,300 people found those given 200 mcg of yeast-based selenium per day for 4.5 years had a 50% drop in the cancer death rate compared with the placebo group. In that same study, however, selenium supplementation was associated with a significant increase in the risk of developing one type of skin cancer (squamous cell carcinoma). Another study found that men consuming the most dietary selenium (assessed indirectly by measuring toenail selenium levels) developed 65% fewer cases of advanced prostate cancer than did men with the

Zinc Zinc is a trace element that is essential for normal growth, development of the reproductive organs, normal functioning of the prostate gland, healing of wounds, and manufacture of proteins and nucleic acids (the building blocks for RNA and DNA). Zinc is ubiquitous in the body and necessary for the activity of more than 100 enzymes.

Pumpkin Seeds

Not enough can be said about the healing power of pumpkin seeds! It seems hard to believe, doesn’t it? Why do these little seeds have such a profound effect on prostate problems?

Did you know that pumpkin seeds contain fatty oil that is a natural diuretic? The medical community scoffs at the idea that increased urine flow may have anything to do with an increase in urine flow. However, in addition to being a natural diuretic, these seeds contain as much as eight milligrams of zinc equivalent to a half cup per serving!

Some doctors recommend taking 60 milligrams of zinc each day as part of the regimen to combat BPH! However, make certain you are in contact with your regular physician because this amount is way more than the daily value. The point is studies have proven that zinc reduces the size of an enlarged prostate. Those little pumpkin seeds are high in the amino acids: alanine, glycine and glutamic acid. According to recent study men who were taking the supplements of these amino acids with a dose of 200 milligrams each day, BPH symptoms showed significant relief.
